Biography

Ray Shapiro is a native of Los Angeles who studied Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.  After working for several innovative and award winning multi-disciplinary Architecture firm’s in Los Angeles, Ray founded his own practice, Ray Shapiro Design in Los Angeles in 2012.  Since its founding, he has worked on a diverse array of project types ranging from several residential designs with complex site conditions, a successful exhibition design for the Armory Show in NY, innovative furniture and lamp designs and most recently creative and technical consultant on the large multi-sculptural installation ‘Lay Back and Enjoy It’ for renown artist Rachel Lachowicz.

Ray Shapiro works on an array of project scales but always strives to respond to the contemporary human milieu of the project’s location and/or context.  Each of his projects is characterized by careful research, elucidation of key issues and a passion for blending sustainability, technology and minimalism. The result is a designer who is responsive to the needs of his clients while creating inventive solutions. Ray Shapiro is a licensed Architect in California.
